objective summary # 2

in the second quarter of the book, " the cuckoos egg" by cliff stoll, Stoll spent a great deal of time and effort tracing the hacker's origin. He saw that the hacker was using a 1200 baud connection and realized that the intrusion was coming through a telephone modem connection.  Over the course of a long weekend he rounded up fifty terminals, mostly by "borrowing" them from the desks of co-workers away for the weekend, and teleprinters and attached them to the fifty incoming phone lines. When the hacker dialed in that weekend, Stoll located the phone line, which was coming from the tymnet  routing service. With the help of Tymnet, he eventually tracked the intrusion to a call center at mtire , a defense contractor in mclean Virginia
Stoll, after returning his "borrowed" terminals, left a teleprinter attached to the intrusion line in order to see and record everything the hacker did. Stoll recorded the hacker's actions as he sought, and sometimes gained unauthorized access to military bases around the United States, looking for files that contained words such as "nuclear" or "SDI". The hacker also copied password files  and set up trojan horses  to find passwords. Stoll was amazed that on many of these high-security sites the hacker could easily guess passwords, since many system admin  never bothered to change the passwords from their factory defaults. Even on army bases, the hacker was sometimes able to log in as "guest" with no password.
Over the course of this investigation, Stoll contacted various agents at the fbi, cia, nsa, and air force. Since this was almost the first documented case of hacking Stoll was the first to keep a log on the hacker everyday, there was some confusion as to jurisdiction and a general reluctance to share information.

Her top pick was Tampa state which he was actually going to. By changing her mind she was able to alter not only her future but.. Joshes also. By  doing so she has gotten rid of his 3 children and made is so he only has one kid about to born any day.quick synopsis of the book. Emma decision to change the future was a bad decision because it could have altered the future more than they knew. For instance maybe it affected where Josh lives or maybe even what will happen in a war ?! All around so far Emma has been really selfish about her future and the way it was suppose to turn out just because she didn't want it that way it needed to be changed.

tuesday re-write

some people sit in different places during lunch, because of what is kinda like a social class in high school.
there are many reasons for some one to sit in a different place than another. some reasons are that people might have friends that sit there, maybe they don't like some one so they sit far away from some one; or maybe it is because of social classes... people are ranked by how they dress, who they date, what they do out side of school, grades, etc...
lets compare this chart to how high school works. the top of course would be teachers, but the upper class would be more of the foot ball players, cheerleaders, the more of the party crowd. the middle class would be more of the people who like to hang out some where else other than the quad or go to parties they are more of the people of like to "chill out". then their is the lower class. these are mostly nerds and or people who keep their own. they are the ones who will go to a good college.

ill compare this to the show "Neds declassified" cookie over there guy on the left he is what high school students would call "a nerd" he is a geek that likes technology. ned in the middle is more of a "middle class than anything" he is kind of a nerd and is trying to hard to be the cool kid and get with a girl that he has no chance with. practically every high school relationship... i forgot the girls name whatever, but anyways she is pushing her way up the ranks. then their is the football players that always are trying to practically kill ned and cookie ps. that kind of stuff never happens in highschool. there are all the social groups i could get into but that would take a lot and a lot of time, maybe that will be a nother post...
