lit group

when i first looked at the rubric i was very  surprised how how poorly i did. When we had another group chat, I improved greatly. I was very focused and deep into the discussion. we talked for the full four minutes and didn't go off topic. My group works decently together, sometimes we go off task during reading time or during not group time. We could definitely try a little bit harder  than we were but we did a very good job. We as a group need to stay focused and make sure we don't go off task or don't pay attention to who's talking. We can achieve this by doing our job, making sure the group is on point and listening to whoever is talking. As we go along we will definitely will get better.

tuesday write #8
In the book Lord Of The Flies. LOTF the pig head is a symbol of the devil. The character Simon symbolizes an heavenly person. During a part of the book LOTF integrates Simon and says some very interesting things. One is “You know perfectly well you will only meet me down there”. (golding 143) The other was “im warning you im going to become angry”(golding 143).

In the first quote LOTF says, “ you know perfectly you will only meet me down there”(golding 143). This represents hell as in “ down there”. this is one way to see that LOTF represents the devil.

The second Quote ,” Im warining you i am going to get angry”(golding143). this shows that something bad might happen like the devil is going to come down on simon. Anything could happen but since simon is hallucinating nothing will happen.
LOTF represents the devil in this book or a very strong evil.

Stephen King’s “The Gunslinger The Dark Tower I” An Epic Futuristic Western
Reviewed by Evan La Honta

A universe made up of many worlds including all space and time connected by six beams of energy. In the center of the universe there is a Dark Tower, a medieval castle being destroyed by evil forces. One man good, a Gunslinger, Roland  Deschain. One evil magician, The Man In Black. He must be stopped before he destroys The Beams, The Dark Tower and all of the Worlds that make up our universe.
The Gunslinger Dark Tower I, released originally in 1982, is influenced by westerns, Arthurian legends and Tolkien’s Lord Of The Rings. It is specifically inspired by a Robert Browning poem, “Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came”. King is known for his brilliant storytelling and calls this series his Magnum Opus, his greatest work.
To be honest , I am not a reader. Books are not my thing. I can’t figure out what it is, but, I am hooked on The Gunslinger and it’s world. Maybe I like stories of good against evil that save the world. Maybe I like books that take you so deep into their world you read page after page before you look up. Maybe I like characters described with so much detail you think they could be real and I am not going to lie, I wish I was with and doing the same things. The Gunslinger is that good, it made a reader out of me.
“Thanks to Mr.Tolkien, the twentieth century had all the elves and wizards it needed”(King,Forward,X). The Lord Of The Rings was an inspiration for this series. Stephen King read them in 1967 and wished to create his own world like Middle Earth. He waited for the big ideas to make it different and better. One day, in the  early 1970’s King saw “The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly” and he knew that his world would be as big as Tolkien’s Middle Earth but be like a western. Roland Deschain is born .
Roland is a loner. All his friends and family are dead. Memories of his life keep him company with his campfire and smokes as he follows his destiny to save the world. Roland is a gunslinger. A vicious, skilled killer. His weapons are the guns of his Father, won in a battle and training. The Gunslinger is the story of Roland’s great quest to save our worlds and how it changes him.
The Gunslinger has loved people, but it ends in betrayal. Either he has betrayed someone or the other way around. His mother and his Girlfriend, the only women he has loved, are examples. Roland always acts without any remorse and keeps going. In The Lord Of The Rings series, The FellowShip Of the Ring is the group who helps frodo destroy the ring and save their world. Roland meets Jake, a 10 year old boy, who joins Roland on his quest to kill The Man in The Dark Tower to save their worlds. Roland grows to love jake like a son. Unfortunately, There is a prophecy that Roland leaves jake to pursue The Man In Black alone. Roland feels something different about betraying jake. “he sat stiffly in the darkness, stunned with horror and terrified ( for the first time in his existence) of the self-loathing that might come afterward’(King, 243).

It has been hard to understand Stephen king’s world of The Dark Tower. People speak differently and time passes by differently , but, it does get easier the more time you spend there. Even though the story is hard to follow sometimes, the way King describes the emotions his characters feel isn’t. “He Felt like a performer placed on center stage minutes the rise of the curtains; settled in position with his first line held securely in his mind, he heard the unseen audience rattling programs and settling in their chairs…”(King,216) In conclusion The Gunslinger Dark Tower I is now my favorite book. I went and bought the second book today to see how it continues. If you like with people in strange situations that after you finish reading don’t feel so so strange anymore, this is your book. If you like Stories that make you want to go on their adventure along their side, this is your book. If you like stories that make you want to read more, this is your book.

IAT blog post

Some major things that stood out in the chapter taken out of " Malcom Gladwell ", were the fact that they choose a president just because he was a very handsome man that,"looked like a strong leader." When in fact he was one of the worst presidents in the history of the United States of America. The message in this passage is basically a saying a lot of people use on a daily bases the saying is," Don't judge a book by its cover." This basically means that you never guess who some one is just by their looks they might be completely different then they look. A girl might be just stunning but she is actually very mean and snide. This chapter should tell everyone they shouldn't just rush to things you should really look in to what you are getting yourself into and realize if you want to stay with this decision or not. We can undo our bias thoughts if we find good in the evil thing that we are bias against. If we were looking for a good leader there is a lot of things to look for but if you really want some main things you should look for here are some good ones. First of a leader should a strong voice and good speaking skills. Second the should be for the people and how to make the country better then it already is. The third and final thing is he or she must be very intelligent.
The test i took for the IAT was the one against Obama and Islam. The test said i was very bias against Obama but who isn't. When that came up I wasn't very surprised. My family is very republican so we do not agree with anything that is happening in this country we live in.

argument blog post

Reality  Tv can not be beneficial  because most of them portray a fake life. it might be their life but no many people at all can have that kind of life but if you can thats good for you. for example in the show," Real Housewives" of whatever county. all they do is fight spend a butt load of money. all they care about is their appearance and the money they have. no one in a real society is not able to spend that much money and have that much drama on a daily bases. one more example is the biggest loser you can not loose that much weight in that little of time they push themselves more than some one does normally at the gym is kinda harsh that they push themselves that hard in the gym. no one is going to go the gym and start working out that hard the first day you go slow into a work out and work your way up. also normal trainers don't yell at you like that they encourage you to work out and if you could do more then they would encourage you to not tell you to.

but there is a point some show are beneficial. the show "Top Chef" is beneficial because any good chef could be able to get on the show and maybe even win. That show is more realistic because anyone has a chance to be on it. Some reality TV shows are more realistic then other and even beneficial.
